About

Laura Burke
Co-Director
Laura is a single parent with a young daughter, with a background in fine art and a love of gardening, who one day decided to take a leap from an office job into a career that would earn enough money whilst being flexible enough that she could work around her child's needs. Starting with a simple flyer she started working as a gardener, applied for RHS level 2 practical horticulture, and business started to boom.
Lucy-Ann Gilbert
Co-Director
Lucy is a part-time carer for her sister, with a background in architecture who took the jump by leaving her full-time job as a university course leader and chose to do what she loved, garden and be in her allotment. Noticing its benefits to her mental health, she started to offer people time in the space. Now a CIC, she offers bi-monthly Sunday sessions to the community helping to grow (in all aspects), build and eat - alongside this!
RHS horticulture is where L&L Gardening came together.
Our GROW team consists of knowledgeable gardeners all RHS trained or currently in training. We are also intentional about creating supportive, flexible employment for people who, like us, may need reliability alongside adaptability — whether due to mental health needs or hidden responsibilities such as single parenting or caring roles. Showing great care for our clients, their gardens as well as ourselves through reaping the benefits of working outdoors.
DESIGN brings together Lucy’s architectural background and Laura’s fine art practice to create thoughtful, site-specific garden designs. We offer everything from planting plans to full garden re-designs, always tailored to the client’s vision and budget. Sustainability and biodiversity sit at the heart of our work — from re-using existing materials on site to sourcing reclaimed elements wherever possible.
Once a garden has been designed and implemented, we provide ongoing aftercare, with our GROW team returning for regular or seasonal maintenance as required.
We look forward to working with you,
The L&L team x
